Babcock broadcasts Global Media Forum live to worldwide audience

The title of the Deutsche Welle Global Media Forum is ‘the role of the Media in Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention’. Representatives from the media, politics, culture and economics, development work and science are meeting to help shape new solutions for peace and conflict prevention.
The proceedings are being broadcast to a worldwide audience via the Internet and Babcock is providing the streaming solution over Flash (the Adobe movie format) for Deutsche Welle. We have built and installed streaming servers inside the World Conference Centre in Bonn, which generate the programme stream. This is then sent across the internet to our Content Delivery Network (CDN) partner, Global Mix; they then make the stream available to multiple viewers at the same time, wherever they are around the world. Babcock has also commissioned and supplied Deutsche Welle with the branded Flash player which sits within the Global Media Forum web site. This can be viewed at www.dw-gmf.de by clicking on the “Livestream” section.
This is the first time that Babcock has provided this solution from within its digital media portfolio to such a large audience and paves the way for future business in this area.
